The chronicler Agustín Sales Alcalá, author of more than forty works on ecclesiastical history, was born in Valjunquera in the 18th century; the town preserves remains of the wall from the Calatravan period and produces extra virgin olive oil under the Protected Designation of Origin Bajo Aragón.
