The donation document of Alfonso II calls the territory the valley of the peña Aznar Lagaya. The archbishop of Zaragoza received it in fief and handed it to Fortún Roberto with a charter of settlement; after the suit with Jaime II it returned to episcopal jurisdiction until the nineteenth century.
