Ports de Beceite (Matarraña side) Nature · Fuentespalda, Matarraña, Teruel Image of Fuentespalda, not of the place itself. Natural area known as the Puertos de Beceite or Puertos de Tortosa-Beceite, a mountain massif that extends between the provinces of Tarragona, Teruel and Castellón, shared by the municipalities of Beceite, Fuentespalda and Valderrobres. Formed of Mesozoic limestone materials, it has a steep karst relief with ravines, potholes and caves; its highest point, Monte Caro, reaches 1,441 metres. It is home to pine forests, oak woods, holm oak groves and a beech wood declared a partial nature reserve, as well as the largest colony of Iberian ibex on the peninsula, deer, roe deer, wild boar, mouflon and around twenty species of bats. The Catalan part has been protected as the Ports Natural Park since 2001. Photo: Angela Llop (CC BY-SA 2.0) What to see and do in Fuentespalda
