Church of Fuentespalda Monument · Fuentespalda, Matarraña, Teruel The church of El Salvador de Fuentespalda stands at one end of the plaza de España, in the Matarraña district. Built in Gothic style in the 14th century, like other parishes in the district erected under the patronage of the archbishops of Zaragoza, it preserves from that period the apse and the first bay of the nave, with two chapels covered by ribbed vaults. In the 17th century it underwent an extensive Baroque remodelling: a doorway was opened in the old apse, a large bell-gable was raised, and a new bay and presbytery were added with Baroque-Neoclassical vaults, along with a raised choir. In this choir is preserved an organ built around 1680, enlarged in 1704 by Francisco Turull, with lavishly decorated Baroque wooden furnishings; restored in 1993, it remains in use.
