Crystal Caves of Molinos Nature · Molinos, Maestrazgo, Teruel The Natural Monument of the Grutas de Cristal de Molinos, also called the cueva de las Graderas, occupies 126 hectares in the municipality of Molinos (Maestrazgo, Teruel), between 640 and 1,100 metres in altitude, and was declared by the Gobierno de Aragón in 2006, besides being a LIC and ZEPA. It is a complex karst system of chambers and galleries with a great variety of stalactites, stalagmites, columns and curtains, accessible through two entrances: the Grutas de Cristal itself and the cueva de las Baticambras, the latter a refuge for three species of horseshoe bats. The cave also served as a burial site: it yielded the remains known as the Hombre de Molinos, dated to around 25,000 years ago and considered the oldest human remains in Aragón, along with other animal bone remains.
