Festivities of Burbáguena Activity · Burbáguena, Jiloca, Teruel Image of Burbáguena, not of the place itself. The patron saint festivities of Burbáguena, in the Jiloca comarca (Teruel), have Saint Peter Martyr as patron saint, whose feast day is 29 April, although the town's main festival is celebrated in honour of Saint Barnabas the third week of August, moved from its liturgical date of 11 June. One of its most characteristic traditions is the descent of the Jiloca river, in which participants build improvised boats to sail along the riverbed; it has been documented since 1991 and takes place on the Friday of the festival week. The feast of Saint Anthony is also celebrated on 17 January, and there are hermitages dedicated to various saints around the town.
