Cabezo de la Bovina Curiosity · Vinaceite, Bajo Martín, Teruel Image of Vinaceite, not of the place itself. The Cabezo de la Bovina is a depopulated Iberian settlement located in the municipal area of Vinaceite (Bajo Martín, Teruel), occupied from the Early Iron Age until the 1st century BC; its abandonment is placed around 75 BC, during the Roman civil wars. Excavations have brought to light hand-made and wheel-made Iberian pottery, Roman imports, spindle whorls, millstones and opus signinum floors. It was declared a Monumento Histórico Artístico de carácter nacional (a former Spanish national heritage designation, predecessor of the BIC) in 1931, and in 2002 the Government of Aragón reclassified it as a Conjunto de Interés Cultural (a regional heritage protection category in Aragón), archaeological zone.
