Church of Bierge Monument · Bierge, Somontano de Barbastro, Huesca The parish church of Bierge, dedicated to Santiago Apóstol and built in Aragonese Gothic style, stands at the top of the village. According to Pascual Madoz's dictionary of 1846, the appointment of its parish priest then fell to the king or to the monastery of Casbas, whose nuns held jurisdiction over Bierge at least until 1610, a link that explains the strong monastic imprint on the village's religious life.
