Chistau Valley Nature · Plan, Sobrarbe, Huesca The Chistau Valley, or Gistau valley, is a Pyrenean region of Sobrarbe (Huesca) that stretches along the upper course of the Cinqueta river, between peaks of 2,000 to 3,000 metres. It comprises the municipalities of Plan, San Juan de Plan and Gistaín, with 663 inhabitants in total, and settlements such as Saravillo, Serveto and the depopulated Señes. To the west, the Cruz de Guardia pass connects it with Bielsa, and to the north the Plan and Pez passes put it in contact with France. Notable is the Tuca Llardana or Posets, at 3,375 metres, the second-highest peak in the Pyrenees, along with alpine lakes such as Millares, Barbarisa and Basa de la Mora. The inhabitants speak chistabino, an Aragonese dialect native to the area, and live from livestock farming, agriculture and forestry. Photo: Ponscor (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Plan
