Submerged bell tower of Mediano Curiosity · La Fueva, Sobrarbe, Huesca Image of La Fueva, not of the place itself. The tower rising above the waters of the Mediano reservoir, in La Fueva, is all that remains visible of the old village, flooded on 29 April 1969 after the dam was filled, construction of which had begun in 1929. It belonged to the church of the Asunción, a 16th-century building with a three-bay nave, with the date 1589 carved at the entrance to the sacristy, popularly known as the lady of the lake. The former residents were relocated to a new Mediano built next to the reservoir, though few accepted the move. When the water level drops, especially at the end of summer, the tower is exposed and becomes one of the most photographed images of Sobrarbe.
