Mont-rebei Gorge Nature · Sopeira, La Ribagorza, Huesca One of the most spectacular gorges in the Pyrenees, carved by the Noguera Ribagorzana between Aragon and Catalonia, on the boundary between the comarcas of Ribagorza and Pallars Jussà and the provinces of Huesca and Lérida. Its vertical walls reach up to 500 metres in height and, at its narrowest point, the passage narrows to barely 20 metres wide, within a protected area of 600 hectares acquired by the Fundació Territori i Paisatge in 1999. Mediterranean vegetation dominates the southern stretch and Eurosiberian vegetation the northern one, and among the fauna the bearded vulture, the golden eagle, the peregrine falcon and the otter stand out. Since 2013, walkways along the river, in the Montfalcó stretch, have allowed its four kilometres to be walked on foot. Photo: Frederic Bordas Altarriba (Public domain) What to see and do in Sopeira
