Roman Site of Labitolosa Nature · La Puebla de Castro, La Ribagorza, Huesca A Roman city that flourished between the 1st century BC and the end of the 2nd century AD, when it was abandoned; it may have arisen from the assimilation of the Tolosan people by the Ilergetes. Its existence became known through a 16th-century Latin inscription that mentioned the cives Labitolosani. Teams from the universities of Bordeaux and Zaragoza have been excavating the site since 1991, bringing to light two thermal complexes, a forum with a curia and a residential domus; the heating system of the baths is one of the best preserved in the Pyrenees. The baths and the curia have been turned into a museum space and are permanently open to the public. It was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) on 31 March 1998, with the BIC code RI-55-0000519.
