Church of Alcampell Monument · Alcampell, La Litera, Huesca Image of Alcampell, not of the place itself. Church of Saint Margaret of Alcampell, one of the few examples of Mudéjar style north of the Ebro, probably built in the last third of the 16th century; the tower, square in plan becoming octagonal, was added later, in the Baroque period. The roof tiles and floor tiles were made at the old tile kiln on the outskirts of the village. The nave has four rectangular bays, and the arches of the side chapels preserve plasterwork and lace-like motifs from after the 16th century. In 1955 a clock with a siren that sounds twice a day was installed in the bell tower. It is listed as a Bien Inventariado del Patrimonio Cultural Aragonés (a listing in Aragon's inventory of cultural heritage). Photo: slow Spain (CC BY 2.0) What to see and do in Alcampell
