Church of Bailo Monument · Bailo, La Jacetania, Huesca The church of Bailo, dedicated to San Pedro de la Sede Real and now known as that of San Fructuoso, stands in the centre of this town, documented since the year 948, head of the Bailés, a natural and historic comarca since the 10th century. Bailo was one of the three itinerant seats of the Aragonese court until Ramiro I chose Jaca as the capital, in the early 11th century. The present church, late Gothic with Renaissance elements, was built in the 15th and 16th centuries on the site of the former castle of the kings of Aragon, and was enriched in the 17th and 18th centuries with an important collection of altarpieces. Badly damaged by damp, it was completely restored in 2011. The village now celebrates its main festivities for the Assumption on 15 August. Photo: Batallero (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Bailo
