What to see and do in Tomares

El tesoro romano de Tomares
Historical milestone
In April 2016, works in the Olivar del Zaudín park uncovered nineteen Roman amphorae containing 600 kilos of 3rd-4th-century bronze coins, one of the largest Roman coin hoards found in Spain.
Tomares
Village
In 1627 the town passed into the lordship of the count-duke of Olivares. In the late 19th century it ceded its eastern part to form the present-day municipality of San Juan de Aznalfarache: sources give different dates for that split, between 1881 and 1891 depending on the document consulted.
