Umbrete, del mosto a la aceituna Village · Umbrete, Aljarafe, Seville Municipality of 9,455 inhabitants (2025), 11.9 km², and 123 m altitude, 15 km from Seville. Of Roman origin (the farm villa Umbretum), Alfonso X donated the Muslim settlement of Ombret to the archbishop of Seville in the 13th century, an ecclesiastical jurisdiction that lasted until the 19th-century disentailments. Its residents are also called 'mocholeros/as,' after the legend of a little owl that flew into the parish church one day during mass, and which the faithful, believing it to be the Holy Spirit, chased through the pasture shouting 'Land, Glorious One!'
