Albaida del Aljarafe, de Maenuba a Laelia Historical milestone · Albaida del Aljarafe, Aljarafe, Seville Image of Albaida del Aljarafe, not of the place itself. The settlement was founded by the Turdetani as Maenuba around the 6th century BC. After Scipio's conquest, the legate Gaius Laelius turned it into the Roman city of Laelia (140 BC), which even minted its own coinage. In the Muslim period it was called Solluqar al-bayda ('the white one'), the origin of its current name. Photo: Albaidejo (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Albaida del Aljarafe
