What to see and do in Atajate

Atajate
Village
Its parish was created in 1505, and it enjoyed a prosperous 19th century thanks to more than thirty wine and spirit presses, until phylloxera destroyed its vineyards in 1877 and triggered a mass emigration from which it never recovered. With barely 168 inhabitants, it is one of the smallest municipalities in Spain; since 1985 it has held the Fiesta del Mosto in memory of that winemaking past.
