De El Entredicho a Villanueva de Tapia

The territory was known as "El Entredicho" from the 16th century because neighboring councils disputed these lands. In 1602 the Crown made them royal land, and in 1605 a Royal Decree granted their jurisdiction to Don Pedro de Tapia, giving rise to the town's current name.
