Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Bella Monument · Lepe, Costa Occidental, Huelva In 1513 the Counts of Ayamonte founded a Franciscan convent next to Lepe dedicated to Santa María la Bella, which drew more than 4,000 worshippers to its pilgrimage and was abandoned and destroyed after the disentailment of 1836. The current hermitage, the work of Francisco Rodríguez Aguaded, was built in 1967-1968 next to the ruins of the convent; since a youth gathering in 1966, a pilgrimage has been held every May and continues today.
