The Lady of Molina

A contemporary sculpture by the artist Manolo Valdés in Molina de Segura, a tribute to the town's industrial heritage and cultural renewal. It is an eight-metre-tall lady located on the modern MUDEM square, next to the medieval wall of the old town; her hair branches out like a metal tree under which locals can sit, and her headdress incorporates elements of the local canning tradition. Chosen as the tourist image of the city, she represents a mind in constant ferment that breaks with convention and champions art and modernity.
