Parish Church of the Asunción of Molina de Segura

Monument · Molina de Segura, Vega Media del Segura, Murcia

An 18th-century Baroque building, the first church raised in the town, with a Baroque façade and a Neoclassical main altarpiece inside; it was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1983. It is located in the Castle Quarter, south of the city, and until a few years ago kept the town's books of births, marriages and deaths, now held at the Bishopric of Murcia. It is the main church of Molina de Segura for its antiquity and for the frescoes it houses, the work of Bernabé Gil, of the Salzillo school. The temple takes its name from the Virgin of the Assumption it houses, and it is also the church that receives the transfer of the patron saint, the Virgin of the Consolation, during the September festivities.
