Hermitage of el Carmen de Mula Monument · Mula, Río Mula, Murcia Image of Mula, not of the place itself. The Carmen Hermitage, in Mula (Region of Murcia), stands in the upper part of the town, right in the old quarter, and is a magnificent viewpoint over the town. It is of construction typical of Murcian Baroque, from the 18th century, though it preserves a 15th-century bell tower, the oldest surviving in Mula. Declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection), it houses the city's patron saint, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, whose feast day is celebrated on 23 September with religious services in the hermitage and an evening procession.
