Macisvenda Curiosity · Abanilla, Oriental, Murcia Macisvenda, one of the most populated districts of Abanilla, lies just 5 km from the province of Alicante, in the north-central part of the municipality, on a small flat area that continues into the Hondones depression, below the Sierra de El Cantón (927 m) and above the Abanilla-Fortuna basin, with notable views from the neighbourhoods overlooking the drop. Covering 11.23 km², it is one of the largest districts of Abanilla, located 10 km from its town centre and at the crossroads of routes to Algueña, El Cantón, Hondón de los Frailes and Hondón de las Nieves. In ancient times it marked the border between the kingdoms of Aragon and Castile, and today its population, more than 600 people, is spread across an extensive area of irrigated and dry farmland.
