Building of the Commandery of Calasparra Monument · Calasparra, Noroeste, Murcia Image of Calasparra, not of the place itself. Former administrative building in the historic centre of Calasparra linked to the Order of San Juan, which held the lordship of the municipality. It was built between 1730 and 1731 as the granary of the commandery, the work of the master builder Diego Gutiérrez, on the site of a former inn; its façade is austere, in brick, with round arches on the ground floor and a wooden roof on the upper floor. Declared a Monumento Nacional (a former top-level Spanish heritage protection category), it has housed the Museo Arqueológico Municipal since 2006, with Argaric, Roman and Hispano-Muslim ceramic pieces from the Villa-Vieja site; it used to be connected to the palace of the Encomienda, demolished in 2008.
