Origin of Roldán and Balsicas Curiosity · Torre-Pacheco, Mar Menor, Murcia Image of Torre-Pacheco, not of the place itself. These pedanías grew up between the 16th and 18th centuries: Roldán took the name of the family that settled the area with farmhouses given over to herding, while Balsicas owes its name to the water collection ponds built in the 16th century, and was divided in 1836 between the municipalities of Murcia and Torre Pacheco.
