Santiago de la Ribera Curiosity · San Javier, Mar Menor, Murcia Santiago de la Ribera is the most populated hamlet of San Javier, located on the coast of the Mar Menor, home to the General Air Academy. It stretches along a broad strip of coastline and includes smaller neighbourhoods such as the Ciudad del Aire or Colonia Julio Ruiz de Alda, Los Arcos, San Blas, Los Pozuelos, Los Garcías de Abajo and the barrio de los Pescadores. On the outskirts of the urban centre stands the General Air Academy, together with Murcia-San Javier airport, today used exclusively for military purposes. It has four kilometres of beach, including those of Castillico, Barnuevo and Colón, certified with the Q de Calidad Turística mark (Spain's official tourism-quality seal).
