Terol Mansion Monument · Alcantarilla, Huerta de Murcia, Murcia The Mansión de Terol, also called Casa del Cura Saavedra or Cuartel Viejo, stands at number 8 Calle del Cura, in the San Pedro district of Alcantarilla. It was built in the 18th century, when the growth of the municipality made the parish of San Pedro Apóstol one of the leading ones in the district and a new ecclesiastical seat had to be erected near the church; it is one of the five oldest buildings in the city. After the 19th-century disentailments it became a cavalry barracks of the Guardia Civil, a corps that occupied the building for more than a century, until the civil war; from that period, nineteenth-century bullets and horseshoes bearing the GC symbol were later found. Restored, it retains notable features of the bourgeois home of the period. Photo: Zarateman (CC0) What to see and do in Alcantarilla
