Church of San Agustín Monument · Fuente Álamo de Murcia, Campo de Cartagena, Murcia Church dedicated to Saint Augustine of Hippo, patron saint of the municipality, whose construction dates back to the 16th century, although in 1736 it was found in a state of ruin and underwent a thorough reconstruction, completed with its portal in 1783, which gave it the Baroque and Neoclassical appearance it retains today. It attained parish status in 1582, the first in the Campo de Cartagena-Mar Menor area, ahead of those of Torre Pacheco or San Javier, and wealthy local landowners exercised the patronage and upkeep of its chapels for centuries. It is declared Historic Heritage and its declaration as a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) is being processed.
