Archaeological site of Ifre Nature · Mazarrón, Bajo Guadalentín, Murcia Image of Mazarrón, not of the place itself. The Ifre site is an Argaric Bronze Age settlement located in the district of Ifre-Pastrana, in the municipality of Mazarrón (Murcia), on a 219-metre hill in the foothills of the Sierra de las Moreras, near the sea and copper and tin seams. It was first excavated by the brothers Enrique and Luis Siret, who in 1890 published the findings that laid the foundations for defining this culture. The settlement has walls with quadrangular bastions and dwellings mostly square in plan, arranged in stepped terraces; in one of them ten hand mills were found beside an oven, suggesting its use for processing grain. Six burials have been documented, including two infant burials in ceramic jars, along with Argaric cups and copper and bronze implements.
