Tower of Santa Isabel de Mazarrón Monument · Mazarrón, Bajo Guadalentín, Murcia Image of Mazarrón, not of the place itself. The Torre de Santa Isabel, also known as Torre de las Cumbres or Torre Vieja del Puerto, is a 16th-century coastal watchtower raised on a promontory that commands the whole of Mazarrón's harbour. Built of rubble masonry, with a circular base and a truncated-cone shape, it reaches twelve metres in height, with walls up to 0.8 metres thick. Declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) in 1986, it was restored between 1990 and 1991 together with the Torre de Cope, in Águilas, under an agreement between the Región de Murcia and the INEM employment agency for the restoration of castles in the region, with a joint budget of just over six million pesetas.
