Holy Week of Mazarrón Activity · Mazarrón, Bajo Guadalentín, Murcia Image of Mazarrón, not of the place itself. Holy Week in Mazarrón, with processions of four brotherhoods: Nuestra Señora de la Soledad (Our Lady of Solitude), Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno (Jesus the Nazarene), San Juan Evangelista (Saint John the Evangelist) and el Santo Sepulcro (the Holy Sepulchre), which parade between Palm Sunday and Good Friday carrying their titular images. The oldest is Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, documented between 1653 and 1655 and reorganised in 1876. After the images were destroyed in the Civil War, residents kept the processions going with modest means until 1981, when the events were reorganised, and in 1989 the Cofradía del Santo Cáliz (Confraternity of the Holy Chalice) was founded, the seed of today's four brotherhoods. marzo o abril (Semana Santa) Photo: Evgeniy Isaev from Moscow, Russia (CC BY 2.0) What to see and do in Mazarrón
