Cabezo del Plomo Monument · Mazarrón, Bajo Guadalentín, Murcia Cabezo del Plomo is an archaeological site in the Sierra de las Moreras, in the municipality of Mazarrón, and is one of the main Final Neolithic and Chalcolithic settlements in south-eastern Spain, occupied from the late 4th millennium to the mid-3rd millennium BC. The settlement stands on a flat-topped hill and retains circular dwellings along with a defensive wall to the west and south, while a necropolis lies at the foot of the hill. Because of its fortification, circular architecture and funerary structures, it has been linked, on a smaller scale, to the cultural horizon of Los Millares. Excavated by the University of Murcia between the late 1970s and the mid-1980s, it is declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection).
