Zarcilla de Ramos Nature · Lorca, Alto Guadalentín, Murcia Image of Lorca, not of the place itself. Zarcilla de Ramos is the most extensive hamlet (pedanía) of Lorca, at 109.25 square kilometres, within the broad municipal district divided into 38 hamlets. Located in the Pedanías Altas area, at 655 metres above sea level and 28.5 kilometres from the municipal seat by the road from Lorca to Caravaca, it is a village of just over a thousand inhabitants living mainly from rain-fed farming and livestock, with rural tourism on the rise in recent years. Its extensive district brings together numerous sites, among them Piedra del Almirez, Hoya Mora, Peña María, Fuente Atocha and Ojos de Luchena, which give an idea of the variety of its mountain landscape.
