The bursting of the Puentes dam

The dam raised on the Guadalentín gave way all at once in 1802 and the flood devastated the lower part of Lorca, the Puerta de San Ginés and almost the whole suburb of San Cristóbal; the disaster left hundreds dead and marked the city's memory.
