Festivities of Purias Activity · Lorca, Alto Guadalentín, Murcia Image of Lorca, not of the place itself. Patron saint festivities of the Lorca hamlet of Purias, in the inland mountains of the municipality, at the foot of the Sierra de Carrasquilla and Sierra de Almenara, between the Guadalentín valley and the sea. They are held in late July in honour of Saint Anne, while another festival, in late June, is dedicated to Saint Peter; some hamlets in the surrounding area also have their own patron saint festivities, such as Altobordo, on 29 June, or Felí, on 26 July. Purias, whose inhabitants are known as purianos, has traditionally lived off agriculture, today centred on greenhouse crops such as tomatoes, onions, broccoli and cucumbers, and has held a weekly market on Sundays since 1994. 25 a 29 de julio Photo: Ugo Cuesta (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Lorca
