Raspay Curiosity · Yecla, Altiplano, Murcia Raspay, the only outlying hamlet of Yecla, lies in the Sierra de las Pansas, a spur of the Sierra del Carche, 23 kilometres south of the municipal capital and about 70 kilometres north of Murcia, on the border with the province of Alicante. It emerged in the late 19th century around rice farming, and its population, bilingual in Valencian and Spanish, grew with workers who arrived from Valencian-speaking towns such as Pinoso or Monóvar, drawn by the valley's land. Despite having just over a hundred inhabitants, people of some fifteen different nationalities live together in Raspay. Among its notable spots are the Zurriera cave, the Jaime el Barbudo cave and the Pansas fountain. Photo: Enrique Íñiguez Rodríguez (Qoan) (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Yecla
