Yecla has hosted Spain's first furniture fair since 1962, the oldest in the sector in the country and, since 2013, the only one in all of Spain dedicated exclusively to furniture; each edition brings together around 120 exhibitors, with companies coming from several countries. The furniture industry emerged in the mid-20th century, when the town's cooper and carpenter craftsmen turned to this trade, which became Yecla's main economic driver, with more than 400 companies engaged in furniture and upholstery manufacturing.
