Museum of la Siderurgia de Asturias Monument · Langreo, Nalón, Asturias Opened in 2006 in the former facilities of the Fábrica de La Felguera, the first integrated steelworks built in Spain, founded in the mid-19th century by the La Rioja-born businessman Pedro Duro, creator of the company Duro Felguera, which went on to become the country's most important steelmaking centre. Its reception building occupies a 45-metre-high cooling tower, refurbished to tell the history of Asturian steel through original machines, tools and documents, and the everyday life of the workers and their families. The museum also holds a collection of locomotives and steam cranes from the late 19th to the mid-20th century, and devotes a space to the history of aspirin, linked to the Bayer plant established in the municipality.
