Ethnographic ensemble of Os Teixois Monument · Taramundi, Eo-Navia, Asturias The ethnographic complex of Os Teixois is a hamlet located 4 kilometres southeast of the town of Taramundi, opened to the public in 1980, with a set of hydraulic devices in very good condition and working order: a trip hammer, a mill, a grinding wheel, a fulling mill, a mazuco and even a small power station, all driven by the water of the Las Mestas stream. Declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) and thoroughly restored since 1989, this 18th-century hamlet lets visitors see the machines running while the site's caretakers offer technical and historical explanations, in a setting of hills, streams and rural paths.
