Exemplary Village Award of Los Oscos

The Prize for the Exemplary Village of Asturias has been awarded since 1990 by the Princess of Asturias Foundation to the Asturian village that stands out in the defence of its values, its natural surroundings, its historical or artistic heritage, or in communal works and other displays of extraordinary solidarity; it is an award exclusive to the Principality, with a prize fund of around 25,000 euros and, above all, a visit by the Princess of Asturias to the winning locality. In 2016 the jury distinguished a joint candidacy for the first time, that of the three municipalities of Los Oscos, for combining heritage conservation with rural tourism and livestock farming.
