The municipal territory of Amoroto preserves several caves with documented prehistoric finds: the cave of Armiña or Errekas, discovered in 1882 with human and animal bone remains, and the cave of Abitaga, with Magdalenian materials located by José Miguel de Barandiarán in 1964. Abitaga is also home to an endangered species of bat.
