What to see and do in Elantxobe

Elantxobe
Village
Seafaring town that arose in 1524 around its fishing port, on the steep slope of Cape Ogoño; it was a neighborhood of Ibarrangelu until becoming an independent municipality in 1858. The official Basque name "Elantxobe" was adopted on June 22, 1987. Its urban layout, with narrow, steep streets, required the installation of a turntable so that large vehicles can turn around and leave the village. It has 320 inhabitants (INE, 2025); in the 19th century it once had seven pickling factories and a cannery, and its harbor now functions as a marina.
