El señorío de los Ayala y la ejecución de 1521 Historical milestone · Agurain/Salvatierra, Cuadrilla de Salvatierra/Agurain, Álava Image of Agurain/Salvatierra, not of the place itself. In 1382 King Juan I granted the town as a lordship to the Ayala family; the lordship ended abruptly in 1521 when Count Pedro López de Ayala was executed for rebelling against Emperor Carlos I. An imperial document from 1522 restoring the town's royal (realengo) status was recovered by the town council at an auction in 2005. 1382-1521 Photo: Soydeotroplaneta (CC BY-SA 3.0 es) What to see and do in Agurain/Salvatierra
