Labastida/Bastida Village · Labastida/Bastida, Cuadrilla de Laguardia-Rioja Alavesa, Álava Villa founded in 1196 between the Ebro river and the Sierra de Toloño, 4 km from Haro. Sancho the Wise walled the town and founded within it the fortress-church of El Santo Cristo; in 1200 it passed into the hands of Castile, which granted Labastida the only charter in the Rioja Alavesa, under Ferdinand III. It experienced its golden age between the 17th and 18th centuries, with notable economic development. 1196 Photo: Unai Fdz. de Betoño (CC BY 3.0) What to see and do in Labastida/Bastida
