The Montaña Alavesa is, together with Rioja Alavesa and the Valles Alaveses, one of the Basque Country's truffle-producing areas; a reception, grading, and marketing center for black truffle (Tuber melanosporum) was set up there, harvested between December and March. The annual presentation of the Álava truffle season is held at the Izki restaurant in Maeztu.
