Tower of Guimarei

Monument · A Estrada, Tabeirós - Terra de Montes, Pontevedra

Square-plan tower of the twelfth century, the only remnant of the castle demolished by the Irmandiños in the fifteenth century, after having been used in those wars; two centuries later a pazo was attached to it, today in ruins. Declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection), it has figured since 2016 on the Red List (Lista Vermella) of heritage at risk.
