The burning of Cangas by the French

During the Peninsular War (1808-1814), on a Palm Sunday, French troops entered Cangas de Morrazo and for ten days burned everything they found; about a hundred and eighty houses burned down, along with the collegiate church, which had first been stripped of its ornaments and bells.
