Numismatic Museum of Lobios Monument · Lobios, Baixa Limia, Ourense Image of Lobios, not of the place itself. The Museo Numismático de Lobios, housed in the town hall building itself, is a permanent exhibition of Galician coinage promoted by the local numismatist Jaime Paz Bernardo, from Quintela, and opened on 30 July 1996 by the then president of the Xunta, Manuel Fraga. That same year it received the Excellent Numismatic Merit award from the Asociación Numismática Española. Its holdings bring together pieces minted in or related to Galicia from Antiquity to the Early Modern period, among them an as of Octavio Augusto minted around the year 25 BC in Lucus Augusti, considered the first coin minted in Galicia, a billon dinero of Alfonso IX minted in Santiago de Compostela, and maravedís of the Catholic Monarchs from the Real Casa de la Moneda de La Coruña.
