The church of Vilar de Donas Monument · Palas de Rei, Ulloa, Lugo The church of Vilar de Donas, in the parish of the same name (Palas de Rei, Lugo), was the temple of a former medieval monastery and the pantheon of the knights of the Order of Santiago: beneath its arcosolia lie their tombs, and on the apse walls Gothic paintings with courtly figures are preserved, of great historical and artistic importance. It is a Romanesque-style church, built in the 12th century. Very close by stands the Capela do Santo Antón, with a Renaissance façade. The parish of Vilar de Donas, which gives its name to the whole complex, had barely 121 inhabitants in 2011. Photo: José Antonio Gil Martínez (CC BY 2.0) What to see and do in Palas de Rei
